Hennigsdorf (pop. 26000) is a town 45km North West of Berlin just across the river Havel which forms the city border. Right in the centre of Hennigsdorf are three eleven-storey high-rise buildings from the GDR period. Each building has distinctive coloured cladding. All dwellings on the estate have similar colour schemes. Apparently red denotes where young people like students, apprentices and young families live, yellow is singles, couples, middle-aged families and blue for people requiring additional help, the old and disabled.
